Plasma Amino Acid Concentration in the Hepatic Vein Compared to Peripheral Blood

ثبت نشده
چکیده

The liver plays a key role in the metabolism of amino acids as it removes releases and incorporates them into different proteins and compounds. Patients with liver disease show abnormalities in the plasma amino-acid profile [1-3]. In advanced liver disease there is usually an increased concentration of the aromatic amino-acids (AAA) tyrosine, phenylalanine and tryptophan, and decreased concentration of branched-chain amino acids (BCAA) leucine, isoleucine and valine in plasma [4-12]. The methods used to investigate amino acid metabolism have varied widely i.e. basal measurements, protein challenge tests, fasting and postabsorptive period, samples obtained from peripheral or arterial blood to mention a few [3,10].

Whole blood and plasma amino acid transfers across the portal drained viscera and liver of the pig.

Whole blood (WB) and plasma (P) amino acid transfers across the portal drained viscera and the liver were determined during 6 h of a constant p-aminohippuric acid infusion in three hourly-fed Landrace x Large-White pigs (30.5 kg, mean live weight) surgically prepared with chronically inserted catheters in a mesenteric vein (MV), the portal vein (PV), an hepatic vein (HV) and the carotid artery ...

Molecular Diagnosis of Plasma Phenylalanine in Neonates with Phenylketonuria Disease Using Biological Sensors Based on Surface-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS)

In this study, silver nanoparticles were chemically synthesized and deposited on glass substrates using a reducing agent of sucrose, at 50°C. Different characterizations including atomic force microscopy (AFM), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), and Raman spectroscopy were obtained to study silvery substrates. Then, the silvery substrates were used as the SERS substrates to de...

Net Fluxes of Amino Acids Across the Portal-Drained Viscera and the Liver of Pigs Fed a Diet Adequate or Deficient in Lysinea

The effect of varying dietary lysine supply from low to adequate levels on amino acid partitioning across splanchnic tissues was investigated in growing barrows prepared with permanent indwelling catheters placed in the carotid artery, portal vein and hepatic vein. Pigs (32.9 (SD) 1.4 kg) were fed either a lysine-deficient diet (L1; n=9) or a lysine-adequate diet (L2; n=7) according to a comple...

Influence of the para-aminohippuric acid analysis method on the net hepatic flux of nutrients in lactating cows1

Para-aminohippuric acid (pAH) is a marker frequently used to measure plasma or blood flow. In sheep studies, it is recognized that its determination must include a deacetylation step to counteract the hepatic acetylation of pAH. Such a procedure is not of common usage in cattle studies although a recent suggestion of hepatic pAH acetylation in dairy cows may have important consequences for hepa...

Hepatoprotective and Antioxidative Effect of Rosmarinic Acid Against Bile Duct Ligated (BDL)-Induced Cholestatic in Male Rats

Aims: Cholestasis is a type of liver disease due to structural damage and dysfunction of hepatobiliary system which at first, results in accumulation of bile acids and other toxins in plasma and hepatic tissue. The aim of the current study was to investigate the possible hepatoprotective effects of rosmarinic acid against oxidative stress and liver injury in bile duct ligation (BDL)- induced ch...
